Reminisce Reinvent Reuse

Im probably not the only one whos a bit strapped for cash this winter, it seems the recession hit us all and reports are suggesting that more and more of us are becoming reluctant to purchase during these times of hardship.

I believe that all of us deserve a treat from time to time, so why put up with the stresses and strains of money worries on our shoulders when we can have a newly reinvented item from our wardrobes placed on them instead?

All we need a fresh burst of enthusiasm for our beloved wardrobes.

If you wish, you could reinvent some of those tired pieces you forgot about. Delve deep inside the horrors of the back of your wardrobe and find a piece of clothing you don’t mind restiching, cutting up, gluing, adorning… the possibilities are endless.

Giselle C from lookbook

Turn those legendary leather trousers into very fashionable leather shorts. You can add tights, boots and a chunky knit jumper to transform this look for winter.

My favourite way to re-invent tired clothing is so order some studs from ebay and go nuts! jeans, skirts, leather jackets, boots.... pretty much anything can be attacked with studs!

Do you have any ways you re-invent your wardrobe?

No school like the old school(bag)

Ive been jumping for joy at the recent increase in vintage style items in the stores lately. Im a sucker for a vintage style bargain and this satchel school bag by The Cambridge Satchel Company has taken the fashion and blogging world by storm....
The Cambridge Satchel Company started by Julie Deane and her mother Freda Thomas at their kitchen table in 2008 and has grown to a multi million pound company. Its archetypal Englishness is what draws 1500 customers a week and these numbers are growing. If you ask me, the Cambridge satchels are beautifully made, timeless and so traditional these newly handmade beauties could be deemed as Modern vintage chic!  ...read more here

Now this wouldn't be a headwear blog if I didn't show you how this gorgeous piece of arm candy can be worn with hats or facinators this winter would it? (I've chosen to create styles based on the purple Cambridge Satchel, but you can purchase one in a wide variety of colours.)

Fall in love with fascinators

Autumn is a season often overlooked for weddings and celebrations because of the change in weather and sudden requirement to wrap up warm and head indoors. However, I see Autumn as a special time for a gorgeous wedding in a rustic barn or garden with lanterns and golden leaves, bursting with rich warm colours.

If you see yourself celebrating in style this autumn, why not adorn your head to match this glowing season with one of our hats or fascinators.

Fascinator: orange feathers
1940's inspired fascinator fascinator made with orange feathers with orange vintage velvet edge. It has a wire edge which hugs the head and a comb to secure it inside; a very glamorous and comfortable  addition to any Autumn wardrobe.

Fascinator, black and white with flower
This fascinator is made from black sinamay and white veiling and fits on the head with a discreet elastic.

Hat, pill box with veiling, 1980s, black
This pill box pill box is very flattering in and fits any head size. It has black veiling and a floral trim on the back. Fits on the head with a discreet elastic.

If you're like me and you're yet to go on your summer travels, then look no further than the boater as the hat to cover your head from the heat.

Fashionable and sensible; the boater is not just for men and can be a cute piece of headwear for keeping yourself shaded in the sun, even if the sun is your local beach!

Back to black

This post will be about next seasons greatest accessory, the black felt hat. Whether its a trilby, a fedora or a wider floppy hat, autumn/winter 2011 is all about adorning your head in style.

Gracing Gucci's A/W catwalk shows in rich 1970's fashion, the felt trilby can be seen as the perfect finishing touch to any outfit this winter. Dont be afraid to be bolder with rich colours; burgandy, deep purple, navy blue and emerald green being the colours of choice this year.  Camels and browns are also a great choice and can be easily worn with any winter outfit.
